CAAS members Sandy Morris, Pat Morris, Bill Sanders, Carl Freyaldenhoven, and Jim Dixon were at the CAAS site tonight (12/17/2007) to greet an enthusiastic group of students from Carver Magnet School. The temperature was crisp and, as we watched, clouds rolled in from the Southwest making for diminishing returns as the evening worn on. However, Bill and Sandy were able to give a constellation tour and then we showed the kids the Moon, the Pleiades, Comet Holmes, Mars, and more. The high thin clouds may have even helped the First Quarter Moon by dimming it a bit and provide a nice foreground object to flow in front of it. The kids were well behaved and seemed to really appreciate the event.
