CANCELLED — Mercury Transit May 9, 2016

Due to predicted inclement weather, our public watch of this event has been canceled.

Come see one of nature’s rare events: the planet Mercury passing across the face of the Sun from our perspective here on Earth. We only get to witness a dozen or so of these events every century so now is a good time to plan on seeing it. Safety is a must when observing events like this and CAAS will have you covered with telescopes that are peoperly filtered against the Sun’s harmful rays.

While the transit takes place around sunrise we will not have our telescopes set up until 8AM, by which time the transit it well underway. We invite you to join us at the Clinton Presidential Library, in the alcove just to the left of the main entryway. Afterwards, you can exlpore the Presidential Center, walk along the wetlands trail. traverse the pedestrian bridge, or visit some of the River Market area shops and restaurants.

Looking through the telescopes are free!

If you plan to visit the Presidential Center and have queries about admission rates or hours of operation then please visit their website at:http://www.clintonlibrary.gov/

Feel free to share with friends, family, or groups you know of who might be interested.

NOTE: This event is subject to cancellation due to weather. Watch this space for info on the day of the event if in doubt.
