March Madness – Board and Girl Scouts – 3/14/2009

CAAS will have two meetings this coming Saturday, March 14th.  First, at 6 PM, we will have a Board Meeting to discuss some items of interest.  All members of CAAS are welcome to attend but this is strictly a business meeting.

Then at 7 PM, we will have our regular monthly meeting.  CAAS will be hosting Girl Scout Troop 663 that evening to help them work on astronomy related merit badges. This is a small troop of about 8 girls and our own Samantha Dixon is a member in good standing.

National Astronomy Day at Pinnacle Mountain State Park

Discover astronomy with CAAS and our friends at Pinnacle Mountain State Park on May 2 from 2 PM (yes, 2 PM) to 10 PM. Activities include solar viewing in the afternoon, special indoor programs, and viewing through telescopes from 9-10 p.m. Contact the park for a detailed schedule and further information. This is a great family-friendly activity! Admission is free.

Star Party at Woolly Hollow Star Party

Join CAAS and our friends at Woolly Hollow State Park for an evening under the stars. State parks can be good places to stargaze because they are often far from urban light pollution. If you want to know about the night sky, this event is a “must see.” Time is dependent on the date, the July 18 event starts at 9 PM, the November 7 event starts at 7 PM.
